Mniku, the historical Island off Chapel Island, has been the meeting place for the Mi’kmaq people since time immemorial and is the oldest reserve in what was the colony of Cape Breton Island.

There has been an annual mission on Mniku since 1742 making it the longest continuous mission in Canada! The present church on the island is the sixth church, the fifth one burned down on December 11, 1976. The annual St. Ann’s Mission to Mniku takes place every year beginning the 20th of July. First Nations people all over North America and tourists alike travel to Chapel Island to take part in these sacred events.

We are on the lookout for locations throughout Cape Breton as add-ons to convenience or other stores, and as free standing gas outlets.
