The old general store has been a fixture in L’Ardoise since 1908 and Alex and Sherri Pate having been proudly serving their community since 2003. They can be reached at 587-2357. 

The Fleur de Lis Store is located on Hwy 247, off Hwy 4, on the Fleur de Lis Trail to Louisbourg. L’Ardoise, whose was name derived for the amount of rock and slate at the shoreline, is situated beautifully on the southern shores of Cape Breton Island on route to the Mira and Fortress of Louisbourg. 

Like a good wine, L’Ardoise is truly an area worth savouring and discovering! Go for a long, refreshing walk or do a little surfing on the beautiful Point Michaud Beach, horseback riding at Little Harbour Stables or check out the genealogical records at the community centre’s cap site.

Settlled in the early 1700's by French fisherman and farmers, the L’Ardoise community has maintained a very strong bond in faith and family and many direct descendants still reside in the original areas settled ! Their faith is witnessed today in their commitment to their parish and community-Holy Guardian Angels Parish and the L’Ardoise Economic Association for Development.
